New Timber - Accoya, out-performs most timbers
-- April 2007
Research into Accoya(TM) wood began in the 1920s and has been a continuous progression of research and development since then.
With timber suitable for the manufacturing of doorsets available by the end of 2007, we at
JCK are very keen to implement the usage of it as soon as possible.
With its durability being better than redwood or
hardwood whilst at the same time it's wholelife costs show substantial long term savings. We think it is a winning material
for manufacturers, contractors and also the end user the home owner.
Please take a look below at some of the key benefits of Accoya TM wood.
Dimensional stability
- Swelling and shrinkage reduced by 75% or more.
- Paints & varnishes last 3-4 times reducing maintenance costs (supported by Akzo Nobel and Teknos coatings)
Durability
- Lasts at least 50 years above ground.
- More durable than teak.
Consistent and reliable quality
- Wood is modified all the way through not just at the surface
layer like many alternative treatments.
- Laboratory validation after the process has taken place ensures
that every batch is of consistent quality.
Mould and insect resistance
- Accoya TM wood is indigestible to insects and mirco-organisms and
therefore more resistant to decay.
- Resistance to wood destroying fungi is dramatically increased
Accoya TM wood is virtually rot-proof.
Non-toxic
- It is non-toxic and because of its durability thee is no
need to apply chemical.
- preservatives on-site unlike unmodified or envelop treated
woods.
UV resistance
- Has superior resistance to the effects of UV Exposure meaning
that the woods.
- natural appearance is retained for longer.
